* Indochina
 South of China and East of India is the culture area of Southeast Asia. It is made up op penisulas on the continent of Asia as well as islands between Asia and Australia. It is stretches from Burma in the west to the large island of New Guineva in the southeast.
The five countries of Indochina – Burma, Thailand, Lao, Cambodia, and Vietnam – have a total land area of about 750,000 square miles.
Most of the people in Indochina are descended from the earliest settlers of the region. Almost 70 percent of Burma’s people are Burmans. Of Thailand’s population, 75 percent are Thai. The Khmer made up 90 percent of Kampuchea’s people. Lao is nearly 50 percent Laotian. Vietnam made up about 90 percent of Vietnam’s population. ( World geography, p: 579-584 )
